Heroica Films joins with Code Pink to present a piece of the film "A single Woman" to members of congress.
I am thrilled to let you know that Jeanmarie Simpson and I have been invited to Washington DC to show part of our film "A Single Woman" to members of Congress!
CODEPINK: Women for Peace [a feminist anti-war group that started in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq that seeks "positive social change through creative protest, non-violent direct action, and community involvement] saw the rough cut screening and felt that Jeannette Rankin, as our first Congresswoman and staunch anti-war activist, was someone that those in our present government needed to know more about through watching our film. They have invited us to join them in DC as part of their Mother's Day Events to continue to press our government to end the war in Iraq.
The events occur on Thursday May 10th and are as follows:
A. In the morning we will be meeting with legislators individually and walking the halls of Congress with CodePink.
B. At midday we will have lunch in the Congressional Cafeteria with staff.
C. From 4-6 pm we will be hosting a Mother's Day Tea Party at the Mott House.
I will talk about the film and Jeannette Rankin to the members of Congress and introduce Jeanmarie who will perform speeches from the film.
D. That evening we will show about 15 minutes of the film at DC's favorite political hangout, Busboys and Poets [named in honor of Langston Hughes, it combines a restaurant, political bookstore and performance space at 2021 14th St. NW, Washington, DC 20009]. Below is the listing about our event on their website, all are invited:

We are very pleased with all the support that we have received so far from showing only the rough cut of the film and are hard at work finishing and polishing it!
Thank you so much for your support and interest in the project.
With much love,
